Name: Agnès Louvain

Species: Human
Setting Agnès is from a homebrew setting I wrote for D&D 5th edition (it's still a bit of a WIP, forgive me). The part of the world she's from is a continent called Aphal which contains three neighboring countries -- Nevaat, Xyrion, and Elysia. Centuries ago, these three nations were at war with one another, but when Elysia developed magic and it became clear the Elysians could easily destroy and/or conquer Nevaat and Xyrion, the war ended with an armistice.
Today, Elysia is a peaceful kingdom -- civilized, beautiful, cosmopolitan -- although no one has ever actually forgotten what they did to end the war, and what they could easily do again. The crown has an army of magic-users at its disposal -- warlocks, wizards, and sorcerers -- capable of being deployed at a moment's notice to keep the peace and defend the nation against outside threats; to be chosen to serve is a great honor and carries a good deal of prestige. The Aetherial Academia, Elysia's national academy of spellcraft, graduates many of these mages after providing the most thorough education in the magical arts that exists anywhere in the world.
Background/History full info. tl;dr Agnès was terrible at magic until a fellow student at the Academia gave her a potion to drink that he told her would improve her magical abilities to let her catch up with her peers. She was desperate enough to drink it and then try casting a summoning spell -- which worked, after a fashion, ripping open the boundary between the mortal and fey realms, but left her on death's door. The Archfey that came instead of the pixie she had intended to summon made a pact with her, saving her life and granting her power -- with one caveat: she must fulfil the Archfey's wishes and requests, or otherwise the pact would be broken and she would die.
Agnès is cheerful, optimistic, and genuinely kind; she's also very serious about her magical practice. On the other hand, she has the threat of her patron fey's displeasure hanging over her head constantly, and fear of her own death is the motivation that keeps her bending over backwards to do whatever is asked of her. That said, her cheerful behavior isn't entirely a mask to disguise her anxieties, but she uses it that way when she needs to.
