Ulari Orakos

[personal profile] seenicroute 2021-05-16 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Info
Name: Ulari Orakos
Age: 35
Species: Anima

Setting
This is a fantasy world where magic has taken a turn with the rise in mixed technological advancements. Many forms of magic are used and accepted, but they are treated as a "science." There are humans, people with animal features called Anima, and other supernatural beings. Less scientific forms of magic or special abilities are seen as either backwater or outright abominations and people with inherent magical abilities tend to downplay them or hide their use. If it isn't a magic that can be studied, categorized, and broken down to base components, then people generally think it's either a fraud or don't want anything to do with it...unless it proves beneficial to them of course.

Background/History
Ulari comes from a middle class business family and was born with the Sight. An ability to use touch to see visions of both the past and the future. As a child he used this to try and help his family's business, but under the guise of having "business acumen" and a "strong intuition" because having an ability like the Sight is looked down on or even treated as being a freak. And when his visions started turning dark in nature, he tried to intervene to prevent the negative outcomes from happening, only to make things worse. People stopped believing him and at times even blamed him for the negative events coming to pass. For years he was trying to save people's lives, prevent economic downturns, and once he was a suspect in a murder for a year until the real killer was apprehended. That situation really sent his reputation into a downfall and he was at the end of his rope. If he couldn't stop all of these bad things from happening, why did he keep having to see them?

His best friend stepped in and helped him work through the trauma...by convincing him to not give a fuck anymore. To focus instead of living a happy life himself and leave other peopel to their fates, no matter what they may be. It's not his job to save the world (even if some part of him really does think maybe he has this ability because he's supposed to save the world). He did what he could and people turned on him for it so fuck them. He instead stopped listening to his conscience and started listening to his wallet. He became a remote financial advisor to some very wealthy (and many very corrupt) individuals who would send him sentimental objects and items from their lives that he could use to see into their futures and give advice on what things they could do to increase their wealth and success. Sure, this means he has a lot of dirt on a lot of very influential people, but they don't know who he is because he keeps his real name and location a secret and instead had random couriers around the country who nondescript packages from different drop boxes and then have them sent to him. Recently though a lot of the futures he's been seeing all have a similar thread. An apocalypse is coming.

Being told that the Devourer is coming will just feel like a confirmation of the Bad End he's been sensing in his own world and so he could definitely have his conscience pinged to push him into finally trying to save the world again.

CR Wishes
ANYTHING. Ulari is chill and does not give a fuck. Mostly. Like he cares about people and wants good things for them, but also he's tired and has been burned a lot by people turning on him for trying to intervene where he wasn't wanted. So he will go with the flow and try not to set his expectations too high. I'd love some people he can rile up by being blunt and casual or people he can chill with or people he can flirt with because he will definitely flirt. Hot people be hot.

Misc.
I will have a permissions post set up for Ulari's Sight abilities and will not be using them on anyone without permission.

Viri Agate | RWBY OC

[personal profile] getgecked 2021-05-16 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Info
Name: Viridescent Agate (Viri)
Age: 21 or 29
Species: Faunus

Setting
Viri is a canon OC from RWBY. That means she comes from the post-apocalyptic world trying to stop the second apocalypse! The Brother Gods pulled a Soddom and Gomorra on the world and left "Remnant" behind. On Remnant there are humans, faunus (people with animal traits), and Grimm. Everyone has aura, which is like a manifestation of your soul and if you can train yourself to project your aura you can create armor to protect yourself or even activate your Semblance, a special ability that is unique to you as a person. People train to become Huntsman and Huntresses who go out and protect the civilian people of Remnant from the Grimm, who are nightmare fuel monsters out there feeding on negative emotions and trying to destroy all of humanity. There are Four Huntsman Academies, one in each of the major kingdoms and each kingdom is unique and often fucked up in its own special ways.

Background/History
Viri grew up in Vacuo, went to school in Atlas, and is/was part of Team SABL (Sable). She went to school around the same general time as team STRQ went to Beacon and her team dies 10 years before the start of the show. She's a gecko faunus, with her faunus trait being her large gecko eyes and is a bit of a feral child for most of her life, but she calmed down a bit as she got older. Loud, at times abrasive, comes across like she wears her heart on her sleeve but actually keeps a lot of her more intimate feelings on lock down. At the same time, when she makes a decision to do something she completely throws herself into it headfirst and doesn't back down from it.

Her parents encouraged her to see more of the world than just Vacuan desert so she decided to go to school in Atlas. She got paired with three other people to make Team SABL and they did not really get along at first because Viri is a cynic who assumes that people are automatically looking down on her (more for being from Vacuo than for being a faunus, but Atlas is also a lot more racist than she's used to) and aggressively overcompensates by being in your face and acting like she doesn't care about anyone else's opinion. Eventually she and her team would bond though after a major mission that almost got herself and one of her other teammates killed and left her with a scar on her face that required some reconstructive surgery. They stayed together after graduation, a well working team who made it into their late 20s before dying on a mission to clear out an area that was being heavily swarmed by Grimm.

CR Wishes
Other grumpy people determined to save the world she can commiserate with. She isn't going to be afraid of making friends, but she's not gonna expect just how deep the bonds are gonna get. She's not used to having people who are that close to her outside of her team. She's someone who is very much a House of Stone type so interHouse and intraHouse CR with people she could bounce off well would be fun too.

Misc.
Anyone else with a RWBY OC they might be interested in apping COME TO ME AND LET ME ENABLE YOU. I am not yet sure if I am taking Viri from a few months after SABL graduated or right before that Last Mission.

Evangeline Minet

[personal profile] daebutante 2021-05-16 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Info
Name: Evangeline Minet
Age: 17
Species: ...????

Setting
In a world where the Supernatural flourishes and normal humans live alongside them as best they can, coexisting and trying to survive when caught in the crossfire of the fights and wars of daemons, vampires, angels, werebeasts, and the like, some humans have taken to using magic of various sorts to compete. Humans like the Minet Family have a long history of magic and influence, but as generations have gone on the types of magic they have used have turned darker and darker and more corrupting. Now they are one of the most prominent Black Mage families in the country.

The Minet are wealthy, powerful, and few would ever even attempt to remove them from their status and position because of how integral they are to the balance between humans and the other factions of supernatural beings. They have connections and alliances and know who to go to for favors or calling in the favors others owe them. They have made themselves invaluable and have gained a lot of leeway because of that. The power they have gained and their relevancy in the social and political structures are undeniable, but at the expense of the corruption of their bodies and souls—to the point that some of the family is incapable of dying, their bodies so altered by their mage-craft. They still look human, but there's also an Otherworldly quality to them.

Background/History
Josephine and Gerard Minet want what many loving couples want, a perfect, precious, adoring family of their own. So after years of trying to have the Perfect Child that would be everything they wanted, they decided they would just have to use magic to make one. They sacrificed the souls of 12 humans and 1 daemon to create their perfect baby, Evangeline. She was raised like a fantasy southern belle socialite, believing she is one of the most perfect beings to exist and that everyone should love her. And if they don't love her, obviously she just needs to be more aggressively perfect in the politest way possible until they do.

Unfortunately there were some effects by the way in which she was created. Evangeline still needed to eat the souls of daemons to survive and eating those daemons would cause her to gain not only their abilities temporarily but their memories. And as she grew older and needed to consume more souls, the powers lasted longer and so did the memories, to the point that by the age of 16 she had to greatly limit the power of the daemons she was feeding on or else she could go hours or days trapped believe their memories were her own. She's still been struggling with not having enough control for the powers she's been gaining and the identity crises they've been causing, but she still puts on the happy smile and perfect face because she can't bear the idea of people thinking she's not perfect.

CR Wishes
People to ruffle her perfectly ironed petticoats! She gets flustered and offended so easily but will pretend she is So Very Not Offended Merely Concerned By Your Lack of Propriety. Just tease her, make fun of her, and force her to accept she's not the center of the universe. Also female friends she could get along with since she doesn't really have close friends. Everyone is her friend because she says so but they don't come spend time with her on a regular basis or anything like that. So people who she can just commandeer to be her friends would also be great.

Misc.
Evangeline is also a classically trained pianist and that is her passion in life, so where your musicians at?

Character Info
Name: Barbara
Age: Just barely over 200 years old.
Species: Oni/Human hybrid, with divine blood. It's complicated.

Setting
Barbara comes from the world of Ribhinn, which is a medieval fantasy setting with some limited technology comparable to 1800s Earth (mostly in terms of guns), plenty of magic and a fair helping of magitech that bridges the gap of "yeah we have speaker systems for concerts what about it."

Ribhinn is a world basically shaped by religious worship. The "Gods" were in fact alien colonizers that touched down a long time before the present day, but they manipulated the people and the history of the world to give their presence a more mythological role and make their presence more palatable to the native population. Eventually though, those same Gods grew bored of Ribhinn and believed they had nothing more to gain from staying and left abruptly, although they did inform each major Kingdom of their departure in a very public, explicit display.

Although the majority of the major kingdoms of Ribhinn are ruled by Kings and Queens, it's generally accepted the world is a theocracy in all but name. Religion is a big part of the people's lives and the Gods' departure threatened it greatly, so the church has maintained both the fake history the Gods left behind and the lie that one day they'll return should the people remain devout and good. They aren't necessarily an evil organization (to the extent of say, all secretly being evil and not caring for the people they serve) and try to maintain the peace, but when it comes to anything that may threaten the stability they've maintained they can be fairly ruthless, which unfortunately Barbara (and the protagoinst party by extension) represent to them.

Background/History
Barbara was born as a direct consequence of the Gods departure, albeit an accidental one. In the wake of the panic that followed the great departure had caused, the current ruling King of her homeland, Tinedearg, quelled the chaos that threatened his people by announcing he'd plead for the return of their God using a sword the kingdom's founder was given by him. Their God was known as the King of Storms, a winged serpent that could freely manipulate the weather surrounding the kingdom. The King, alongside his best troops, his court mage and a woman expected to act as a sacrifice to the King of Storms travelled to a mountain outside the Kingdom that was considered sacred ground, as it was the same mountain the King of Storms was known to roost upon several times throughout history.

When they arrived, they found the clergymen who maintained the mountain had been slaughtered by an Oni that wandered too close and was attacked when it asked for them to share their food, retaliating fairly swiftly given tensions between most monster species and humans. The King and his troops attempted to avenge the fallen clergymen, but they were swiftly beaten back by the Oni's great strength. The court mage insisted the King use the stormking's blade to fend it off, the King rejected the idea claiming it was too precious to be tainted with the monster's blood (in reality, he was just a coward) and so the woman who accompanied them did it instead. She charged the Oni, pierced it's flesh (to little effect) but were then both engulfed in a massive bolt of lightning. In the aftermath both the Oni and the woman were gone, leaving behind a tiny horned baby in the ashes. The king was terrified and attempted to kill the child, but his court mage convinced him otherwise and decided to raise the child himself. He named her Barbara, "daughter of storms".

Barbara would've made an excellent soldier given her oni heritage, but the King was terrified of her until the day he died and demanded she be raised as one of the castle maids instead, if only to keep her in a role that he hoped would keep her servile. The court mage often took her outside the castle in the dead of night and allowed her to explore a bit and found she was fairly harmless, just curious and playful as you'd expect a child to be, so she had two father figures who had two very different ideas of how to raise her. On the one hand, she's polite, dutiful and careful with how she carries herself around other people. On the other hand, she's a very curious person (she's rarely left the castle grounds, so she can be a bit clueless about the world at large) eager to meet people and honestly pretty fearless, which can make her appear absentminded but in reality she has a tendency to hyperfocus on things that catch her attention and she isn't shy about seeking them out.

CR Wishes
Ahhh, let's see. She's eager to learn about things so people with unique talents or interests would catch her eye, especially if they could teach her how to do cool new things. Friends is a very broad one, but the reality is while she's fairly liked around the castle back home she was only ever very close to her adopted magic grandfather so getting to actually develop and maintain closeness with other people would be a new and nice experience for her. Also, if anyone plays an oni.....she's never met another one, that'd be sick. Even if they'd be different given different world different rules, still.
Misc.
your fun fact of the day is Barbara is ten feet tall and beneath her maid uniform she is buff as fuck. she eats about as much as you'd expect for someone her size too

Character Info
Name: Lys (Lyserai)
Age: 24
Species: Human (but comes with a psychically bonded blue dragon who is the size of the blue guy on this size chart at full length-extension, about 28 feet long and 8 feet tall at the tip of his ears!)

Setting
Dragonriders of Pern, previous game that went AU after the second Pass so there are different Weyrs and a little bit of a modified social structure/tech level but not by that much.

Background/History
Originally born of Keroon, Lyserai is the fourth child and second daughter to one of the Hold's posted Harpers and a Master Herder. To some surprise, despite her utter fascination and adoration of kittens from an early age, she didn't end up apprenticed to Herder or Harper either one, but choosing an utterly different direction from the rest of her family and moving from Keroon to the Fort area to join the Healer Hall at age thirteen.

While some of them came to visit her, she rarely ventured home throughout her apprenticeship, resulting in missing quite a bit — while she was there to see her eldest brother Impress at Igen and dash the family's hopes of his making Mastery like Dad, many smaller things escaped her notice. Her closeness to her older sister faded, and in the end Lyserai chose to sit an exam rather than attend said sister's wedding, creating a small rift.

She was always fastidious and perfectionistic in her work, leading to a speciality in surgery and wound care that created some pushback — why wasn't she doing something more womanly, like botany, or midwifery? — but in which she also flourished. Lyserai managed something of a social life at the Hall, carefully balancing her utter dedication to her career with getting to know actual people.

Maybe she got too comfortable, or maybe it really was just that her mentors wanted her to see more field experience, but autumn of the fifth turn of the 2nd Pass had her sent somewhere else for her first posting supervised by an expert in the subfield. This was Fort Weyr, where she remained for two years before being Searched to Azov Weyr, instead. She accepted in order to get a free vacation, because actually Impressing was completely off her radar. There wasn't a single rider in the family, and Lys loved her craft.

That plan didn't exactly work, though: blue Svoriyath chose her, instead.

CR Wishes
Everything! Friends, romance, mystery, adventure, enemies, frenemies, challenges. Also, she loves cats. Do you have a cat? Are you a cat?

Misc.
Pardon my lack of journal for her yet, I've not tried playing her in a setting besides a MUSH before so! just uploaded an icon of her PB to my character dev journal. For people who know Pern, Lyserai is from the third Pass so they still know they're colonists, still have smallish dragons, and haven't yet adopted the use of 'turns.' (The game she's from is a bit AU with having a single Southern Continent Weyr, was pre-Todd books and I've never read Todd's books, so I don't know about the applications of his work since he actually wrote in that Pass so I hear!)

Character Info
Name: Jadon "Jay" Mistral
Age: 19
Species: half-demon (white wolf)

Setting
Jadon's setting is a pseudo-old timey France that is partially inhabited by demons. Humans are aware of them and know to keep their distance, but as humanity encroaches further on the demons' natural habitat, conflicts between people and demons fiercely protecting their territory have become more frequent. Some towns and villages attempt to placate their local supernatural entities with tributes and gifts, while others employ demon hunters who actively hunt and kill demons who threaten human settlements. After Jay's older brother leaves to become a demon hunter, Jay makes it a goal to follow in his footsteps.

Background/History
Jay and his older brother, though half demon themselves, were raised by their village under the false impression that demons were responsible for the death of their mother. (The reality was very different and spoiler alert: the villagers were the bad guys.) Jay became Deaf at a young age due to a fever and was brought up relatively sheltered by his brother, who conversely became quite bitter and obsessed with becoming a demon hunter and getting his revenge. Nevertheless, Jay looked up to him more than anything and, as a consequence, set off years after his bro left the village to become a hunter himself.

He is handy with a bow and his daggers (both crafted from demon bone), and enjoys certain advantages from his demonic heritage including very sharp eyesight, enhanced strength, and a mild empathy which gives him the ability to sense evil intent. That last one does, however, come with the downside of sometimes causing him physical pain.

Personality-wise, he is naive and quite idealistic, very curious about everyone and everything, and intensely eager to prove himself. He may or may not have some deeply buried shame and abandonment issues, but he doesn't know the half of them and he ignores the other half! He isn't patient and will often act before fully thinking out a plan, especially if it means helping someone who looks like they need it because HE HAS TO BE GOOD, please just like him, (please??) The only thing that really makes him grumpy is treating him like an idiot because he can't hear.

Communication-wise, Jay's native language is a pidgin between home signs and early Fantasy-France sign language (which lbr - like most fantasy sign languages, if I narrate it, it'll be ASL). I am thinking the communication devices might be able to interpret some of his sign through Magical Means, but he won't necessarily enjoy using it, because for him there's no way of telling how accurate it is. He'll probably prefer reading, body language, and speechreading (lipreading) whenever possible.

CR Wishes
Is your character a grumpy-pants? Do they dearly need a friend and/or sidekick who will pester them and accept every one of their flaws with an open heart and mind, and it's definitely not born of their own personal need for validation and approval (it is a little)?? He would also flourish under a big brother type, but he would especially benefit from having CR with someone who could (1) get him to open up, or he helps them to open up and learns a valuable lesson from it, and/or (2) help him discover the truth about his past through magical/psychic means or what have you. OR he learns about their tragic past and that helps to prepare him for when he learns his own.

Shigeru Miyata!

[personal profile] mysophobic 2021-05-17 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
Character Info
Name: Shigeru Miyata
Age: 28
Species: Phrobiest

Setting Shigeru's world is high-tech mixed with magical aspects such as flying cars/trains and weaponry that's magical as well. A lot of his world doesn't exactly rely on technology as the magic within it serves most of the world well enough. But there are people who aren't capable of magic so they developed ways to defend themselves from the evils of the world without it, hence the super crazy technology and such!

Background/History

So in Shigeru’s world, named Kasuitiga, there are beings known as Phrobiests. Phrobiesits are human beings with supernatural powers linked to specific phobias. Each phobia depicts what their power is. So, people who are Pyrophobia (fear of fire) can bend and manipulate fire. Each Phrobiest is born from a cursed family and given the highest foundation of education and life. However, being cursed makes them social outcasts in the world. Many children of the Phrobiest families face challenges in their youth and for the rest of their lives. Most Phrobiests are secluded to the main academy, which is a boarding school for Phrobiests and their families, and also islands that are surrounding a mainland continent. Despite being protectors of the planet, they are still regarded as freaks of nature and inhuman to most of the general public, but this is due to the fact that phrobiests are essentially ticking-time bombs?? If they use their powers too much their gate (a portal-like object that acts as a conduit for their powers and also like a bag of holding type space but also serves as a guide to the mental and emotional distress of a phrobiest) erodes after a time and there is a phenomenon that occurs which is known as a Gate Collapse. When this happens three things have the possibility to occur.
1) The phobiest's gate goes critical and they essentially become a blackhole and wipe out everything in an x-mile radius of where they are.
2) They manage to live and become something known as a Forenthieth which is a terrifying amalgamation of a phrobiest and a Valkierin (an eldritch type creature spawned from the felled Dark God's blood) that is also partially possessed by a piece of Malneminous himself and is how he intends to resurrect himself.
3) They just get absorbed into the gate and die.

There are select islands, which are colonized and inhabited by Phrobiests and those willing to be around them to help Phrobiests acclimate to society more. People willing to interact with them usually live on these islands for a period of time while receiving funding from their governments in order to do so.

Phrobiest exists to protect the world from creatures known as Valkierins, which are otherworldly beings that spawn from the fallen dark god’s blood, Malneminous. Malneminous is the name of said god and it is also the god who cursed the families of the Phrobiests into what they are today. Malneminous defeated by the god of light and several human beings back in the old days is now gone. As punishment for not siding with him, he cursed those humans and created the void lands or the lands where he was felled and defeated. The void lands are riddled with monsters and demons and all sorts of terrible creatures, which spawned from Malneminous after his defeat.

CR Wishes

Shigeru is a pure soul and really tries his best?? He's really too good for his own good and is a bit naive despite his age. He's trying his best to overcome his phobia while making sure he doesn't turn into a hideous eldritch terror?? But, you know, if you wanted to befriend him he'd appreciate it, a lot.

Shigeru does well with characters who are open-minded since he's mute due to childhood trauma. People who are outgoing and willing to drag him out of his shell and have him experience the world, while also being mindful of his OCD and phobia. He's also good with taking care of people so...if you have a reckless idiot he will be there to patch them up with his powers.

He also gets along with people who: draw, cook, and are good at swordsmanship!

Misc. I've been playing Shigs in various RPs on and off since like 2013?! How has it been that long?? So he's come a long way and I have most of his history/background info in his journal: here if you wanted more details on anything lmk!

Character Info
Name: Chauncy Morior
Age: 438
Species: Elf

Setting

what if I just did bullet points!!

* Edol is a world that had been upheaved over a thousand years ago by the Celestomachy. The event of the Celestomachy was so cataclysmic, that the fallout of it still lives in the world of Edol to this day, but whatever civilization existed before it is overshadowed now by what developed in the aftermath.

* Edol is a high-fantasy world where magic can be learned, born with, or obtained through pacts. Fighters and magic users regularly band together and travel in groups often called “warbound” as they traverse through the monstrosity-ridden land of Xinteas, where the story takes place.

* The continent of Xinteas for the most part follows under the reign of the Virtandian Dynasty, ruled by the Imperian Cypria. Beneath her is the Prince Paramount, and beneath that are dozens of Princes of their respective families.

* To be a Prince has nothing to do with gender, but a title that means they hold a great amount of power over those beneath them. All Princes keep a strict hierarchy in place within their city-states, all serving the Xintean throne.

* In Edol, there are gods that are acceptable, and Gods that aren’t. Gods like Septeem, She of Restraint, are seen as acceptable because they were always a part of this world, however transformed some may be by the Celestomacy.

* The “unacceptable” Gods, known as The Unorthodox, are ones that have come from another world through the apocalyptic Celestomacy, which they themselves are responsible for. They are the ones who caused such destruction to Edol, and that is why they are hated. Their arrival in the world had devastating affects, including the death of a handful of “natural” gods, and the corruption of a few as well.

* The cults and believers in these Gods are usually seen as social outcasts, or outright traitors to the Xinteas empire. Anyone in any position of power found out to be a believer in any of these would executed...

Background/History

* Chauncy Morior, Prince of House Deneb.

* As a child, his mother held the title of Prince for the Morior family. When he had enough experience in diplomacy himself, he asked his mother for the title, and she retired, giving him the title of Prince.

* Chauncy was visited by The Sunrise Prince, an Unorthodox god. Eventually, Chauncy converted to his belief, and along with it became a warlock to The Sunrise Prince.

* This is a secret, because otherwise, he'd be in deep shit.

CR Wishes

I want enemies. I love enemies. Rivals also acceptable. (But also for real, friends, because he doesn't have any, he only has fake Noble friends.)

Character Info
Name: Ishaq Duvainor
Age: 41
Species: Half-elf

Setting
Raith is a fantastical D&D 5e homebrew by [personal profile] daestwen from whence Ishaq came. The Raithir Empire is a theocracy ruled by an Empress who claims heritage from a god, and strictly enforces Pantheon rule. For the past 700 years, the Raithir Empire has pushed the boundaries of its borders, its bellicosity fed by the neighboring provinces its militaries conquer and colonize.
☀ Those born within the borders of the empire, and specifically in the capital of Raith itself, rarely leave the empire parameters and tend to be inundated with imperial propaganda
☀ Mages of a specific talent are frequently incorporated into the military, although those who demonstrate the pinnacle of talent are usually granted elite bureaucratic positions
☀ Politicians most loyal to the Empress tend to be rewarded with Governorships over conquered provinces
☀ Currently the Empress is focusing her fury on the sizable western empire, the only nation whose power rivals her own
☀ Amidst the backdrop of warfare, the Old Gods are stirring. Those who were not favored as the chosen Raithir Pantheon had diminished in power over the centuries, dissatisfied and enraged, and now divine tides shift as they prepare
☀ A trickster god, the god of deceit, the Dark Whisperer manipulates mortals in her obscure scheme to sow chaos
☀ A Godwar nears just as its mortal parallel draws blood

Background/History
Ishaq is the leader of a cult called the Host Radiant. He preaches about mortal self-empowerment, about how hypocritical the gods are (and specifically the Raithir Pantheon), about how mortals owe a duty to each other to protect and thrive, how mortals do not need gods when they have each other. He is sincere to his marrow about his beliefs. His "falling out" with the Raithir death goddess, the Lady of the Lasting Embrace, catapulted his mortal-supportive ideology into motion.
☀ Ishaq, as a young sorcerer, fled Raith southward to the coastal city Fairsold, and began the heretical cult the Host Radiant
☀ His charisma and conviction won him a mass of followers, and he opened a new sect in Porthaven
☀ From there, he dared to set up house in Raith itself, which attracted the attention of the imperial gaze. Amassing too much power too quickly upset the Crown's self-protective instinct
☀ His high priestess and lover, Ayleen, betrayed him to the Crown in exchange for a governorship of a nearby province
☀ Ishaq's cult was disbanded (mostly lol) and he was sentence to Traitor's Keep for crimes of blasphemy and heresy
☀ From there he was recruited with the people who would become his beloved party members, the carrot of liberation dangled before him IF this party agreed to subject themselves to heinously dire, perhaps suicidal missions on behalf of the Crown
☀ Eventually the party slipped the leash and now they're running around courting fey kings and provoking a god war and Ishaq is trying to resurrect his darling cult

CR Wishes
Ishaq tends to attract strong feelings one way or another, be it suspicion or hope or hate or love, and he does so because he has a knack for sensing out powerful individuals. I'm particularly interested in characters who have fraught or complicated relationships with the gods of their own world; his goal is primarily to make friends/allies, but he's good to needle or antagonize a diametrically opposed theologian. Alternatively: any character who is cult-curious, that's honey to him.

☀ FUN FACT ☀ I'm the DM of the D&D homebrew Xinteas game, where Prince Chauncy Morior comes from. Most of the Unorthodox gods of Chauncy's world are aspirational AUs of the PCs in Raith--meaning specifically: Ishaq Duvainor is who the Sunrise Prince was, if in an AU world his plan to overthrow the gods 90% succeeded. The 10% is to account for how it 1) didn't happen in Raith, happened in another world that kickstarted the Celestomachy because something went horribly wrong in the divine plane and 2) it also wasn't how he wanted it to manifest. There's a severe price for divinity.

Character Info
Name: Reika Suzugane
Age: 16ish
Species: Human-Cyborg

Setting
Reika comes from a world where a cataclysmic war in the mid 21st century fractured the underlying logic of the world, causing fantasy to emerge for the first time in eons. This event led some areas of the world to fall under the sway of fantasy - in this world fantasy and reality exist in opposition to each other, with both forces existing in varying ratios throughout the world- and thus become hubs of magic and myth. One such place is a city simply known as Utopia where a delicate balance exists even within different areas of the urban sprawl.

It is here in this city that, between a parking garage and a florist, a small Shinto Shrine exists. It is here that the shrine maiden Reika Suzugane and her mother Yurika live. Reika is the current priestess of a long-forgotten, outside her family anyway, deity with no name. As her family shrine in Japan had been destroyed in a massive storm, Yurika had decided to move the family and set up shop in Utopia to deal with the massive fantasy taking hold in the area.

While her primary role is as the shrine's keeper, Reika on the side acts as a freelance exorcist, solving various supernatural problems and keeping in line with any entity that might attempt to upset the balance between fantasy and reality. To this end, her brain has been modified with cybernetics that not only allows her enhanced senses and thinking but also serve as a vessel for her shrine's god. This allows her to tap into divine energy that supercharges her various magic and techniques, allowing her to more easily deal with problems.

Outside of her dealings as an exorcist, Reika attends to the daily duties of being a shrine maiden, including carrying out prayer, blessings, and selling fortunes to anyone who stops by, though not many people stop by.

Background/History
- Born in 3080 CE
- Raised in Japan, but moved to the southwestern united states upon turning 20
- Works as an exorcist
- is well regarded among the city's police for solving issues they can't.
- has a rival/sometimes GF in the form of French-American witch Alicia Trudor
- Her mother is 55 years old and very caring.
- Wears a bell in her hair as a decoration, which was part of a display at the family shrine in Japan that was destroyed.
- Primary conflict is with Utopia's founder, a centuries-old half-goddess Mikoto Tenjoin, who has been plotting for centuries for fantasy to engulf the entire city in fantasy. The two often clash as the city's shadow ruler and top solver of fantasy-related issues.
- Despite living in a futuristic city, she lives a very classical existence in a home attached to the family shrine. The house looks much like one would expect a dwelling from the 20th century to look, but with future technology.
-The Shrine itself is not very popular and is seen as something of a curiosity by the citizens of the city. This means the Suzugane family is mostly kept afloat by Reika's work as a spiritual consultant and exorcist.
-Her dad is still in Japan working on rebuilding the original Suzugane shrine.

CR Wishes
- Other fantasy types.
- Characters living in a futuristic earth
- character with a background in religious circles
- pretty much anything.

Resplendent Star

[personal profile] suninshadow 2021-05-18 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Character Info
Name: Resplendent Star (birth name Cynis Falen Kaira, but she doesn't use it anymore)
Age: 25
Species: Human... technically. Star is one of the Exalted, a formerly normal mortal gifted with a spark of divine power by one of the gods of her world. Specifically, Star is a Solar Exalted, Chosen of the Unconquered Sun, and a member of the Night Caste -- Exalts who specialize in using stealth, espionage, and other sorts of potentially underhanded methods to carry out their work. The Exalted are intended to be heroes, and while many of them are, some of them (for various reasons, including an ancient curse that was placed on them thousands of years ago and just... plain old personal hubris, among other things) fall short of their full heroic potential.

Setting Exalted is a tabletop RPG set in a flat world simply called Creation. Most of the setting and tropes of Exalted are based in various Asian mythologies as well as a dash of modern influences based in modern anime, video games, and novels. Here is the long, exposition-filled explanation.

Background/History (This is the extremely abbreviated Cliffs Notes version; you can go here for something more substantial.)

Star was born to a noble family in the Realm -- the seat of power of the Scarlet Empire on the Blessed Isle, the center of modern civilization, or so she was taught to believe. While as a child she readily swallowed the Imperial propaganda she was taught, which tacitly (or not so tacitly) sanctioned the deprivation of the poor and the upholding of the slave trade, her faith in the Empire and her family began to waver as a young adult, and then to slowly collapse on itself. At the peak of her self-questioning she was chosen as a Solar Exalted -- and since the Solars are considered demon-possessed abominations in the Realm, she had to flee her home and family for her own safety, ending up regretfully having to kill a cousin in the process.

She escaped to the city of Great Forks in the Eastern Threshold, took on a false name -- the name she bears now -- and disguised herself as a mortal teahouse proprietor, aware that her birth family probably now essentially had a warrant out for her arrest. While to all appearances the teahouse was a normal establishment, Star also began to use it as a cover for the spy network she started to build in Great Forks and, slowly, throughout the Scavenger Lands and the East. Her intent is to tear down the Scarlet Empire's influence in the Eastern Threshold, one step at a time.

Basically as of the time she arrives in Restoria, she's still in Origin Story Mode and hasn't gone on to do Cool Hero Shit yet, but she's getting there.

CR Wishes
- spies
- royalty (bonus if your character is A Jerk about peasants/lower class/poor people and you're interested in having her go off on them about it)
- characters who are Chosen By A Higher Power
- I mean, idk, throw whatever at her and I can make it work

Character Info
Name: Suzanna "Six" Moon
Age: 19
Species: Human

Setting
Your average cyberpunk dystopia. Lots of light pollution (she's never seen stars so becoming part of Cloud would be a lot of *A*), a mysterious and harsh United Earth government who are trying their best to wipe out all remnants of old tech which can't be hooked up to their "more efficient" (read: ever-watching) networks. They also have a hateboner for art, and so the spheres of technology and art often intersect when it comes to resistance movements.

Background/History
Suzanna was adopted by two high ranking government IT specialists and developed an appreciation for technology, the finer things, and thrillseeking as a result. These qualities mingled until they finally dragged her into the seedier side of tech: hacking and the underground web systems that housed a lot of the resistances.

The hacker known as v.6.i., or "Six", was born. She made good money from a young age, quickly becoming a renowned and reliable name if you wanted any information. An ex's location? She's got you. Files from a competitor in business? Easy. But when everything is easy and you love a challenge, it eventually leads to you only having one option: to try and crack the government's files.

She does, and the Dark Web's whispers of an all-girl resistance group called the Kamigya leads her to offer the files to them for free. Just to see what happens.

CR Wishes
Six is very much an amoral sort, only ending up on the protagonist side of her story because she wanted to sit back and popcorn.gif at the outcome. She needs people who will either temper her bad habits or encourage them for terrible effect. People who are equally curious and adventurous will be fun to bounce her off. And I would love some negative or antagonistic CR with her, people who will challenge her world view and choices, because she really is kind of an awful person a lot of the time, despite her friendly nature.

Character Info
Name: Rosenkrantz
Age: 40+ (techincally ageless)
Species: Arkana (we'll get into that later--)

Setting.
Rosenkrantz is an arkana hailing from a realm known as the Dreamscape. The Dreamscape within itself is less of a place and more like a plane of consciousness where the dreams of the living take physical form. Unlike the waking world, everything and anything is possible here. The sky’s the limit and that limit is endless. The dreamscape changes constantly thanks to the dreamers and often takes the form of the most poignant dreams. The power of one’s imagination helps strengthen this bizarre world composed of desires, emotions, and thoughts.

Arkanas are powerful beings forged from the fear and death of countless dreamers throughout the ages. While they sound similar to that of a Knightmares (malevolent entities that devour dreams), these creatures are embodiments of humanity’s greatest fears in the form of the original eight categories of evil that plague human thoughts.

Arkanas are often summoned by dream seers to act as guides within this realm but they're known to have wills of their own. These Arkana can even materialize their likeness and form within the Waking World, often doing so at the expense of the dreamers they dare to possess. It’s because of this truth that Arkanas are often mistaken for your classic “demon” within the Waking World.

Background/History.
Rosenkrantz is a member of the Bohemian Calamity, a ragtag group of dream seers who battle against the nefarious forces that haunt the dreams of the living within the ever-changing Dreamscape. He’s the main combatant of this group and the secondary leader of the Calamities. Rosenkrantz is the summoned Arkana of the Dream Witch Luna and the current embodiment of the 7th Known-Sin of Vainglory.

He’s one of Luna’s most powerful summons and the current wielder of the fabled Lúin of Celtchar, a bloodthirsty fiery spear that Luna managed to steal from the ever-elusive "Huntsman". He also acts as Luna's protector within the Dreamscape and often clashes with their rival faction the Reality Dreamers.

In the first arc, Rosenkrantz is introduced combating the Dream Eaters that have overtaken the Temple of Night within the outskirts of the Dreamscape. It's during this brutal encounter that he first meets Kenji, the protagonist of this story. He confuses the boy for an enemy and attacks him on sight while during his bloody rampage. Before Luna could interfere, he accidentally kills the boy within the Dreamscape allowing for Kenji's powers to awaken within the Temple of Night. Once Luna manages to recruit the boy over to their side, Rosenkrantz starts to view Kenji as an ally despite their rocky introduction. He acts as a guide of sorts for Kenji, teaching him about the Dreamscape while actively protecting him from the Dream Eaters that haunt this realm.

CR Wishes
  • Combat, combat, combat! Rosen loves to fight and he isn't above causing a bit of trouble just for the sake of fighting. While he has a preference for battling men rather than women, he greatly enjoys the thrill of combat.
  • While Rosen is an odd mishmash of fantasy and modern, I would love for him to meet other fantastical creatures much like himself. All sorts of creatures exist within the Dreamscape but he saw an elf or an orc before.
  • Idealistic young protagonists are welcomed here if only to make him huff in annoyance.
  • Rosen loves music and he likes to talk about music. So feel free to pick his brain in regards to his favorite bands or so. He learned a lot from Luna, his master, about such topics.

  • Misc.
Nothing right now. I honestly can't think of anything else but I know my main profile for Rosen isn't quite yet finished. I plan on working on that a bit more since I have a few ideas written down in Google Docs that I haven't shared just yet.

    Character Info
    Name: Viviane Vidal
    Age: 20
    Species: Human

Setting Viviane is from a magical but dangerous world called Aurea, with danger lurking in almost every corner. Whether it is lurking in the mysterious Windway Wood or where one might not expect. Prior to its merging with Earth, it had been dying over time because of a mysterious sickness that had been slowly spreading.

Aurea has five kingdoms: Geland in the North, Fimia and Vania by the sea, Thaica in the east and Oran in the south. The people there worship the goddess Ilena whose wishes are often expressed through a selected follower, or by the Masters of Fate.

In Aurea, Season Queens are crowned and appointed to rule over the seasons to ensure that they are kept under control and everything stays balanced. Geland is sworn to the Winter Queen, Fimia and Vania to the Spring Queen, Thaica to the Autumn Queen and Oran to the Summer Queen. The Queens hold court

Background/History I’ll be writing an official info page for her soon! But Vivi here is the Heir to the Summer Queen, and was meant to one day take her mother’s place. While most children were playing and enjoying their childhood, she was dedicating many hours to educating herself. Not just in many ordinary skills like reading in writing, but in diplomacy and politics as well. She also learned horseback riding and archery at a very young age, and picked up a sword in secret so that she could defend herself better. She officially became her mother’s Heir Apparent when she was eighteen after going through a magical ritual and facing the dangers of the Wood nearly unscathed.

Three mysterious followers of the goddess and Echo -- the Mouthpiece -- attempt to use the Autumn Queen for a ritual that will merge Aurea with Earth. Though she leaves for Earth with her family, they succeed in using her Heir and merge the two worlds. Viviane teams up with the Spring Princess and manages to find the Heir and her sister, rescuing them both. The four then escape and try to evade the enemies they’ve just made while navigating a strange and unfamiliar world..

CR Wishes friends, fellow royalty, anyone she can clash with that doesn’t have favorable opinions about royalty, and just... I don’t know. someone, anyone to show her that she can be more than a Princess, more than her duty. Viviane wants to live as just herself without expectations and pressure but she doesn’t really know how to do that. she’s genuinely very sweet and lonely despite the mask of grace and regality that she wears.

    Character Info
    Name: Kavi
Age: She's been 27 for a very long time. About 124 years.
Species: Immortal human, considered by some in her world to be a god.

    Setting
Ravat is a desert nation, populated by people with magical abilities that allow them to live in harmony with their environment. Of those with these abilities, most just have simple quirks - someone may be able to make an object's shadow bigger for shade, or purify a small pot of water to make sure it's drinkable. But there are a select few with greater powers: control over light, the harvest, or even life.

They call themselves gods, and live in an isolated realm away from the Ravatan mortals. Not everyone in Ravat truly believes in them - many think of the so-called deities as a cult of elitist scholars, obsessed with their own power. But just as many are devoted to these superhumans, convinced that the world wouldn't continue to exist without them.

    Background/History:

Kavi was born into a pious family. From a young age, she was taught that the gods were to be respected, adored, loved, and she ate it all up. When she was barely twelve, she left school behind to start working at the largest temple in Ravat - the temple for Bhaskar, the God of Light. For fifteen years, she rose through the ranks, becoming High Priestess of the temple, her devotion only growing. Bhaskar began to visit her in her dreams, fill her head with sweet nothings, and Kavi hung off his every word.

And then he pushed too far, and Kavi refused his advances, and everything changed.

Kavi doesn't remember the process itself. All she knows is waking up in Diyulo, the domain of the gods, with something rushing in her veins. She looks in the mirror and her face has changed - sharper angles, darker eyes, black teardrop shapes in a line down her cheeks. Kavi has been made divine.

Bhaskar knew how to hurt her most. They'd spoken in her dreams of her love for her family, her friends, her duties. He'd taken that all from her - divinity came with rules. She could appear to mortals, of course, but she could never tell them who she had been on Ravat. The gods had to stay separate. It was for their own good.

Kavi's gotten over it, as much as she can. It's been over a hundred years, and she's watched her parents and siblings pass, every bit the punishment that Bhaskar intended. Now, all she does is throw herself into her new role, as a Goddess of Safe Passage. People fear her as a deity of death, and pray to her out of that fear - another thing that Bhaskar surely planned to hurt her - but all she really does is collect souls to set them to eternal rest. The sort of rest she'll never get to know.

    CR Wishes:

Kavi is aloof, sad, and desperately curious about mortal life. I'd love for her to meet more extroverted and cheery people, just as a counter to her very gloomy outlook on things. She'll also be really interested in other forms of magic/other religions - even if she won't share much about herself, she'll be really interested in learning. Also, anyone who'll drag her into new experiences would be amazing. 124 years of doing the same thing 24/7 wears on a girl.

Also she's lowkey a goddess of death, so perhaps your character would be into making friends with her for nefarious reasons. I'd seriously love it.

    Character Info
    Name: Azami su Miyabi
    Age: 17
    Species: Human

Setting Servryn is a rather disparate continent, full of little kingdoms that are usually led by magic-using nobles. Called Knights, they're classed by their magic and sent to a school in the middle of the desert. (It's neutral, but mostly by virtue of the fact no one wants the land around it.) The best and the brightest (or the wealthiest) scions are trained in their power and sent back to their assorted kingdoms, ready to take up the burden of rule--or, alternately, be offered up in an alliance marriage to a neighboring kingdom.

She and her family worship the goddess Elee. A benevolent goddess, she charges those in her order with exterminating threats and dangers to mankind. In Miyabi Provice, they also worship their ancestors.

Why do they need magic-using nobles of varying power there, you may ask? There are giant monsters that occasionally come over the mountains; think a horrific crossbreed between Lovecraft's shoggoths and D&D's Tarrasque. Called Uthmuri, they make the entire continent's worth of knights come swarming like a hive of kicked bees.

Background/History Azami is but one of the 'spares' in her family--she has a younger brother, Yuuma, but it's their older brother Katashi who's the heir to Miyabi Province. Azami is not content to sit back and wait to be married off, so she works her fingers to the bone to be one of the brightest and best, a talented and up-and-coming young Knight Errant, to be able to be sent to the Academy. Beyond her father being something of a stick in the mud, however, Azami has not had anything like a tragic upbringing. Her parents love her, there's no evil sibling to grind her into the dirt (even if Katashi has a redwood hidden up his bum).

In short, she feels like she hasn't really lived, and that's something Azami really craves, so coming here to be a Big Damn Hero and potentially Save the World is like a flame to a moth.

Azami can be something of a spitfire and get herself in trouble (her name means "thistle", which is a symbol of defiance!), but she usually means well and might be a bit too friendly.

CR Wishes Someone to COOL HER JETS because Azami will probably need it. Fellow nobles, though she's the type to be all WE HAVE A DUTY TO THE COMMON FOLK, because as Knights, that's exactly what they're taught. Making ALL the friends.

Misc. She's something of a work in progress, but Servryn itself has existed for...a long time.

    Character Info
    Name: Gai Kurogane
    Age: 26
    Species: Human

Setting It's Tokyo, of course. What other city would be accosted by weird bug monsters on a regular, roughly weekly basis? A near future version of Tokyo that has become a proxy arena for various feuding galaxy-spanning crime families, which terrorise the populace with their kaijin and robots. The only thing that can stop them is the Galactic Police and their newest recruit: Gai Kurogane.

Background/History The first human to join the Galactic Police did so by accident, having stumbled across a failed sting operation while out on a walk. Out of pure desperation, Gai grabbed a weapon off the corpse of a fallen alien officer and in doing so transformed into Armour Hero Jet. What followed was two years of fighting off monster attacks while dealing with a police bureaucracy that while never outright hostile, never seemed to treat Gai's problems with the seriousness he felt they deserved. After all, while getting rid of the Space Mafia's goons was good for everyone, Earth was just a random backwater that wasn't even in the Federation, and thus outside their jurisdiction.
By the end of those two years Gai had killed enough of the crime families' bosses to drive them off the planet, but at great cost: the rest of his unit was dead, and so were far too many civilians that were simply born in the wrong place. And so something in him broke, and while Gai would love to say he quit, the truth was that without his contacts there wasn't any way for him to contact the Galactic Police and it seemed as though they were content to leave things that way.
So left alone with his invincible power suit and no more enemies to fight, the former Armour Hero Jet thought he would finally have to get a real job.

CR Wishes He means well but he's taken enough lumps that he's not really excited to be here any more, trying his best to just be vaguely pleasant in people's general direction. Ideally his CR would be able to drag some real emotion out of him, whether by being inspirational or annoying or lord knows what else.

Misc. Any resemblances to Toei franchises is totally a coincidence I swear.

    Character Info
    Name: Simon Ashlock
    Age: 33 (or 91, depending)
Species: Human (or, well, see below)

Setting: That's where I need help! I love AUing Simon and he's been in a million different settings, and now that there's a wonderful game where any of those versions of him would be viable, I can't decide which one would work best. I've got four options that I'm thinking of, three canon OCs and one from a more original setting. Please let me know if any version interests you in particular!

    CANON

    1. World of Warcraft. A ridiculous kitchen-sink fantasy setting wherein nuclear warheads and interdimensional starships coexist casually alongside medieval swords and wooden siege weapons, where sentient cows and pandas fight Victorian werewolves and giant purple elves, where one can expect to encounter demons, zombies, trolls, dragons, banshees, centaurs and aquatic snake people (but not vampires.) Interplanetary travel is a mundane occurrence for anyone who joins the military, and half the planet is trying to annihilate the other half over increasingly stupid crap at any given time.

    2. Dragon Age. I think most people are probably familiar enough with Dragon Age to get the gist, and I don't want to try to distill the central conflicts into a few sentences, but, yeah. Those wacky dragons and their ages.

    3. Avernum. The surface of the planet Ermarian, for as far as anyone has seen or explored, is ruled with an iron fist by The Empire. The punishment for most crime or defiance against the Empire is death, but for lesser crime or mere hints of insubordination, the penalty is simply exile to a vast system of barren underground caverns called Avernum. Generations of the Empire's outcasts have now lived and died in the caves, much to the chagrin of the native inhabitants thereof, and enough Avernites have tried to find their way back to the surface for revenge that the Empire has been obliged to send troops back down into the caves to quell the resistance. For RP purposes, I'm playing from Avernum 2.

    NON-CANON

    4. Urban fantasy. This incarnation of Simon was the original, created for an IJ game years and years ago, where the premise involved various mythological beings all making their presence known to humanity at once and then everyone dealing with the social implications. I don't want to take any of the original parts of the setting, since it wasn't my creation, but the general idea is that various vampire factions have existed for centuries and the world has recently become aware of this.

    Background/History

    1. World of Warcraft. Simon is a paladin from Lakeshire who's good at the whole poverty-and-service part of the gig, but otherwise does his best to avoid his fellow paladins as much as possible, because he's perpetually unconvinced of his own worthiness and finds self-discipline and performative holiness absolutely exhausting. He's not completely right that all the other paladins are smugly judging him behind his back, but, like, he's not 100% wrong either. (The ones with epithets like "Katherine the Pure" and "Arthur the Faithful" have nicknamed him "Sir Marcus," after the paladin protagonist of an infamous series of pornographic novels that have almost nothing to do with actual paladinhood.)

    2. Dragon Age. Simon is a templar from Starkhaven who has spent most of his career stationed in the boring backwater of Ansburg. Before that, however, he had begun his career in Kirkwall as a zealot who thought it would be a good place to kickstart a lifetime of defending innocents from the menace of magic. Once he saw the kind of cruelty and abuse his fellow templars were capable of, he realized he wanted no part of it, but found himself too terrified of Knight-Commander Meredith to speak up or report the violations and simply requested a transfer instead. He has regretted that cowardice all his adult life, and longs to redeem himself somehow, whether with the Inquisition or some other way.

    3. Avernum. Simon is a former Empire soldier who was born on the surface, but was exiled to Avernum in his early twenties after clashing with a superior officer. Rather than joining the army of Avernum and risk similar troubles, he made a living for himself as a mercenary and traveling preacher, hoping to use his skill in battle and healing to defend his new homeland against his former comrades-in-arms. Like most Avernites, he hopes that he might someday find a way back to the surface, but the idea terrifies him as much as it excites him after over a decade of living in a cave and thinking of surface-dwellers as deadly enemies.

    4. Urban fantasy. Simon is a relatively young and recently-turned vampire, having grown up in the Dust Bowl during the Great Depression. Earnestly religious but somewhat weak-willed about temptation, he grew infatuated with a female circus performer and became her lover, only for her to reveal herself as a vampire and turn him against his will to serve as a companion and bodyguard. Over the ensuing decades, Simon has attempted to disengage himself from vampire politics and to reintegrate into human society as best he can, hoping he might someday even be able to overcome the "being an unholy abomination" thing--but if he can't, then at least he doesn't have to hang out with other vampires. Because they suck.

The basic history of pretty much any Simon:

-- Born to a blue-collar family in a small town, always more religious than his parents and older brother
-- Left home at a young age to train for the military/the clergy/both, depending on what kinds of "armored holy person who smashes things" roles are available in-universe
----- (Vampire Simon was a coal miner, who smashed...coal)
-- Returned home periodically during said training, often enough to fall in love with and become engaged to a neighbor girl
-- Became more and more scarce around his hometown as training progressed
-- After taking final vows, returned home one last time to discover that his fiancee had taken up with and married his brother instead
-- Remains eternally unaware that this turn of events was, in fact, because he had unknowingly impregnated the poor woman and she needed a more stable childrearing partner than Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Village
-- Heartbroken, left his parents, brother, new sister-in-law and nephew-who-was-actually-his-son-but-shh-don't-tell-Simon behind to sign up for a tour of duty in a war as far away from his hometown as possible
----- (Vampire Simon would have done this had he not been busy getting vamped by his rebound girlfriend and then adjusting to vampire life)
-- Distinguished himself in battle and gradually worked his way up through the ranks of the army
-- Despite proving himself a good and effective commander, preferred to find ways to do freelance solo work in order to satisfy his wanderlust (and also to more easily avoid his fellow paladins/paladin-equivalents, never feeling like he fit in with them and always concerned about being judged)
    -- Adventures Ensued
    -- Restoria, here he comes

    CR Wishes

-- Refined rich folk, to contrast his thorough disdain for all things fancy
-- Other religious people to talk God Shop with and compare and contrast deities
-- Non-humans and other people with whom he can have fascinated cultural exchange

    Misc.

oh hi I heard we were doing character aesthetics?

(Also, please, please help me pick one of these Simons. I'm leaning towards Dragon Age or Avernum but I cannot choose.)

I don't know anything about Dragon Age, but a guy who was a coward and has spent his life regretting his inaction and looking for redemption does sound really cool. I feel like that kind of person can gain a lot in a place like Restoria.

    Character Info
    Name: BISHOP (Samuel Joseph Mercer)
Age: 34 (Actual but physically looks 21)
    Species: Demi-human (Shapeshifter Demon)

    Setting

    World Information the long version

The short version is that the world has entered the end times. The war to end all wars, hell itself rising out of the shadows flooding the world with demons of all kinds, and humanity nearly lost if it weren’t for the timely intervention of a hidden society of mages and witches who brought magic to the crumbling modern world. Magic gave mankind a way to fight back and joining it with modern technology gave them magitechnology which quickly became the new foundation of society and their greatest weapon against the demon hordes. At the same time, the rising of hell brought with it other phenomenon, from the divine to the plain unusual. Bishop’s world is a truly strange and frightening place.

    Background/History

    Background the long version

Bishop was a regular punk kid in Queens prior to the Calamity. He was pugnacious and didn’t have many friends but many enemies and he didn’t see eye to eye with his parents. The Calamity happened on his 13th Birthday, December 12 2012, and he and his parents were among the lucky few who survived the fall of New York City. They made it to Washington D.C where they struggled to survive for a year until Bishop got fed up with just being a bystander. He wanted to enlist into the army and fight against the demonic horde but his parents forbade it which led to a big fight. He snuck out that night to enlist but, when demons burst through the defensive wall and killed hundreds, his parents among the casualty.

He enlisted in the academy after burying his parents where he met his first real pair of friends, Matt Peterson and Kylie Crest. He shared a bond with them as they were survivors of the same attack and enlisted at the same time. The trio also graduated at the same time three years later and ended up being part of the same unit because of their extraordinary teamwork. On their way back from a mission, as they passed through the ruins of New York City, their unit was ambushed by demons and they were separated from a large part of the unit, Kylie being seriously injured and unable to fight. Most perished in the attack and Bishop later found the remaining soldiers were tortured for entertainment.

With no other option, Bishop guided their group out of the ruins where he killed many demons and ended becoming a pseudo-demon himself. When they arrived at the capital, Bishop was detained and recruited into S.T.R.I.K.E by Queen, who later became his mentor and mother-figure. After saying goodbye to Kylie and Matt and gained his new name “Bishop”, he threw himself into his new role becoming a fearsome assassin. In his time with S.T.R.I.K.E Bishop would undergo many missions and commit many sins under the belief he was serving humanity however, it was also in this time that his life started to perk up and he began to feel more alive.

Seven years would pass before Bishop’s world came crashing down. On a mission to acquire a weapon that could kill the demon lord Fenrir, Tower betrayed them and took down the members of his team one by one. Bishop managed to escape thanks to Queen’s sacrifice but the event left him broken physically and emotionally. When he finally stopped running, he found himself in the ruins of the Vatican in the care of a scavenger, Damian. Bishop stayed with him until he got his strength back but heavily considered just killing himself then however, the advice Damian gave him to just live by following his own instincts and will strangely resonated with Bishop.

He parted ways with the scavenger and headed to Tokyo; Japan, the homeland of Queen, where he ran into the Kimura family. The family ran a diner which he ate at but didn’t have money to pay so instead, they put him to work. They found him to be proficient and interesting, strangely taking him into their home in exchange for employment. Bishop experienced true happiness with the Kimura family and was almost content to live his life with them but, the Japanese government caught wind of his existence and offered him a job to eradicate a yakuza family that was harboring demons within the walls. He declined and told them to stay away, choosing his current life however when a demon appeared in the middle of the day and threatened to kill Natsumi, the elder daughter of the Kimura family, Bishop had an epiphany. She was saved by the patrolling guard but Bishop had found his true calling, eliminating evil and preserving the peace of the innocent. He slaughtered the yakuza family that night and said his farewells to the Kimura’s, becoming a hitman who targets demons and those he deems as evil.

    CR Wishes

Bishop is seemingly happy and comfortable with who he is on the surface, and to some degree it’s true. He is still haunted by the things he’s done, mourns the things and people he’s lost, and is afraid of losing anymore. He keeps people at a distance with a goofy, kind, and gentle persona but he never lets anyone else see past that so the kind of CR I’d really like for him are people who can break past that persona using whatever method fits them. Whether they pester him with questions and confrontations, slowly worm their way into his heart (eww cheesy), or out-right just confront him, I am all for helping the hitman try to be more human and less of a weapon.

Of course, I am also here for all the stupid hijinks and adventures but that should go without saying.

Misc. Nothing atm, but I am excited for this game and will post to the TDM soon-ish (as soon as Ghost of Tsushima lets me go from it’s grip)
