Name: Passion Flare, the Enduring Blade

Setting

Intention for this universe is fun and campy, sometimes a touch genre savvy. (I'm not looking to go too crazy on the genre savvy, just a dab here or there that's probably appropriate to how long-lived Passion is.) This particular storyline is overtly magical girl pastiche, but it connects with... whatever. It exists in a multiverse. Passion's original world is an all pink magical girl kingdom, but she can be the blade picked up in all manner of stories.

Background/History

Passion Flare is a living weapon. She was first gifted to the Empress Philomella by the primordial goddess of women, love, and beauty. This gift was a testament to the power of those principles, and Empress Philomella used the powerful sword to defend her kingdom against warmongers from other worlds who thought she would be conquered easily.

The Enduring Blade may only be taken up by a woman, in the service of good and justice and love. She is particularly drawn into lost causes that long for their deus ex machina to fall from the sky. Like a shooting star, the Enduring Blade will be there.

Sometimes she stays only for a single battle, and then releases her wielder from the violence of war. Some wielders, however, are able to see Passion Flare's true nature and develop a much closer relationship with her. In those instances, she spends more time as a peer than as a tool. A confidante, an advisor, and a friend. She has overseen the safety of empires for ages; passed on, befriended and inherited through family lines.

But the Enduring Blade is immortal. She is a fragment of divinity, with a purpose that will live on as long as there is a fierce heart still beating in the chest of a woman.

Her most recent wielder is a witch name Zenaide Haywood. Zee has been heartbroken and living under a curse for a long time. So Passion Flare has come to draw her into the fight for love and justice in order to unlock the potential that has been squandered for so long. Zenaide is living in a Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Halloweentown kind of story, so Passion has also been living with her in a mix of regular old earth and supernatural shenanigans lately. When not dragging Zee off on her magical girl battle of the week.

CR Wishes

This is a new character I cooked up during the misery of 2020, just something cheerful and fun. So that's what I'm the most interested in pursuing. Some adventure, some friendship! But I'm also never opposed to some negative CR. Passion is quite assertive and can be stubborn AF, so I can easily see her butting heads with people of different perspectives. She's pretty damn close to Lawful Good, so people with more flexible morality structures may find her frustrating and sanctimonious. I'm game, I'm down.

Misc.

How would she feel about someone who’s genderfluid and doesn’t always feel like a girl?

Oh she wouldn't mind at all. There's probably a better weapon for someone like that, just like every magical girl has a weapon that suits them but in terms of relationships Passion is all about people being whoever they are authentically. Unless your authentic self is a villain, in which case you need to be defeated. (And probably rehabilitated, but that's... someone else's gig. )

Gosh, I love the sound of this character -- she seems super fun and like she might invite a bunch of different CR right off the bat by virtue of being a superweapon with, like, actual principles. They would've made quite a duo (I mean -- Sincerity and Passion, lmao) if Sincerity were still in her bard idol prime. Now, she'll definitely play the part of poor, helpless grandmother around Passion in an attempt to get on her good side. I'm wondering -- how good a judge of other people is Passion? Has she ever been "tricked" into working for someone with bad or purely selfish intentions?

There's definitely room for Passion herself to get caught up in the heat of things and to be tricked into doing something.

There's Passion Flare as an individual, and then there is the Enduring Blade the weapon. She doesn't wield herself, and can't just turn herself over to whoever willy nilly either. The Enduring Blade is very aware of who is and is not worthy of wielding it. There would be sparkles and omens and shit if a worthy wielder were chosen.

As just herself, Passion Flare is like a mid-level magical girl herself. She has all the strength/stamina/durability perks of being an immortal being but can't activate her most powerful moves unless she's a sword, in a worthy wielder's hand.

Which laughs I am sure I will need to outline in a more cohesive way if I end up apping...

It's true, I recolored a Genshin! Jean came on screen when I started playing and I was just like 'Oh, that's exactly the vibe I wanted...' Here we are.

Passion is confident and sociable, so there won't be much resistance to trying to get to know here.

God that's so mood. I feel you. Vel's based on a very very ancient Ragnarok Online fan OC of mine and she just has the look and vibe I had for her that I got hit with nostalgia when I saw the fan art start rolling in haha.

And that's good to know! I'm curious to see where it leads now.

I'm curious, would she have any advice for somebody who has just become immortal and ageless? It's something Altria has been trying very hard not to think about (and fucking off to explore the multiverse and find her girlfriend is a consequence of her avoiding it), and having some advice on that sort of perspective could really help her out.

She would definitely try!

But she actually would completely not relate to feeling tied down to a life. She's always been what she is and always been guided by her preternatural purpose.

So it would probably be very unhelpful advice, but she'd try 8')

At least she can try, that's less than Altria has currently since all the rest of the older immortals where she from are either batshit crazy from hiding out on a meteor for countless resets or recovering from being an undead thrall. Better than what she'd get otherwise :')

How many of her living weapon powers is Passion going to have when she drops into Restoria, if you don't mind me asking?

NOT A LOT. She's most powerful as the sword in the hands of her wielder, who isn't... coming on this adventure.

So she's kind of just a mid-level magical girl in this form. She has a lot of durability/speed/strength because she's not human. I'm contemplating if I want to give her maybe a couple small spells (thinking like Sailor Venus style heart attacks) or if I just want to leave her without magic attacks entirely unless she's with the wielder.
