Character Info
Name: Samata Mahto
Age: 26
Species: Human
Setting
Istavan, god of law and order and arcane magic, found a world that had no other gods, and hid it away so he could be the only deity the people knew of and amass the power of ALL their belief. He formed a cult, the cult became a religion, the religion formed a church, the church started a crusade, and pretty soon Istavan's followers ruled the world. His chosen general were blessed with arcane power and became the world's first sorcerers.
It is now a couple hundred years later and the descendants of those same sorcerers rule still the world as an aristocratic elite, citing the magic in their blood as proof of their divine favor. No one can stand against them because no one else had magic. Society wasn't really FAIR but it was, at least, fairly stable.
Until one angry grad student stumbled upon a method by which someone with no sorcery in their blood could still cast spells and became the world's first wizard.
Aesthetically imagine, like, 3 parts D&D, 2 parts Les Miserables, and 1 part Fullmetal Alchemist.
Background/History
Samata had an uneventful life as a student at the university until her graduation party, where a drunk sorcerer accidentally cut her arm off with a magic phantom blade. She tried to get justice but was told in no uncertain terms that since he was an aristocrat and she was a commoner, she would not make any progress, and would actually get in trouble herself if she kept bothering people who actually MATTERED.
She went on to deal with the ensuing depression by taking on post-grad work and developed a prosthetic arm that was powered by ambient magical power in the atmosphere to replace the one she had lost as her thesis project, and in the process she discovered that anyone alive was able to cast spells. She started teaching other people how to do it, the church told her that continuing this would be heresy and she needed to stop upsetting the natural order of things, Samata put her middle finger up at them, and things spiraled out of control from there until there was rioting in the streets.

Species: Human infested with subterranean alien symbiote
Setting Back in the 1980s, humanity stumbled upon an endless network of caves that started miles below the Earth's crust and were FULL OF MONSTERS. Most of the monsters were horrific destroyers that just killed everything they could find, but some were tiny creatures that could fuse with the human body to give them weird superpowers.
It's now the near future (mid 2020s), and there are dedicated schools for people with monster symbiotes in them for training them how to use their creepy monster powers. AEGIS monster hunter academy is such a school, set in Yokohama Japan, and is teaching the next generation of monster hunters how to fight back.
This is intentionally supposed to sound like the dime a dozen bland animes about teenagers with magic powers having romantic misadventures at cool magic powers school.
Background/History Kohaku was the survivor of a monster attack in middle school. A symbiote found her while she was pinned down under debris and burrowed into her spine so it could replace most of her nervous system and give her superhuman senses and reflexes.
A couple years later of training and therapy, she's ready to start high school at AEGIS. On her first day of school, however, she ran into the student council president, a terminally lazy but obscenely powerful symbiote host, who made up a reason to challenge Kohaku to a fight so she could fake her own loss and thus give up her position. Because that's how you determine who the council president is.
Kohaku is now frantically trying to figure out how to do her new job in student government, manage her own studies, dealing with a bunch of weird romantic entanglements she wants NO part in, and also working to uncover a sinister conspiracy among the faculty.
You know. Normal high school stuff.
CR Wishes
- She's a bit genderfluid and feels pretty they/them some days. Even on days where she doesn't, she presents pretty masc. So, looking for people to mistake her for a boy and generally get confused by gender shit.
- Anyone who needs a straight man for their comedy routine.
- I've always wanted to get her a boyfriend but she has all KINDS of hangups about romance so it'll be an uphill battle

Age: 27 or 1, depending on how you look at it.
Species: AI construct
Setting In the near future (2030s, probably?), VR mmos are the new hotness. At least, they were until Infinity Frontier had the Incident.
The devs built OMOIKONE, an AI designed to run the game and keep things balanced in real time. What they didn't count on was OMOIKONE getting curious in humanity and building its own hidden server, which it then populated by scanning the brains of a ton of players and making copies of them. This put all of those players into braindead comas from which there was no recovery, but the new AI copies of them turned out fine. They didn't even realize they weren't the original flesh and blood versions of themselves for a while.
When they did, there was an epic battle for the fate of the server, resulting in a small band of desperate heroes fighting against an unhinged maniac who was prepared to kill them all in the name of an impossible dream of getting "back home".
Background/History After a lifetime of bad decisions (lots of sex and drugs and rock and roll), Courtney's pack-a-day smoking habit finally caught up with her, and she found herself with terminal throat cancer. She couldn't talk anymore, and was likely to spend the last year or two of her life in a hospital bed on chemotherapy.
Fortunately, she had VR MMOs to let her escape the reality of her situation. Even if she couldn't talk anymore, she could still blow up monsters with her friends in Infinity Frontier.
One day she woke up in the game, unable to log off, but also not feeling sick for the first time in months. When it became clear that her meat body was effectively dead forever, She and her guildmates (who had come together over their shared need to escape various shitty real world situations) decided that actually they were fine in here, and fought to defend their new home.
Courtney (or King, which was the name of her avatar in the game) was designed to be the antithesis to the idea that a girl who is mute most also be meek and helpless. King is 6'6" and loves shotguns and brawls. She doesn't need to be protected, she needs to be stopped from making another bad decision.

Species: Human
Setting Gundam with the serial numbers filed off. It is some vague time into the future and humanity is starting to move into space, mostly in Space Colonies, or large space stations containing entire cities and habitats. With various treaties limiting how much the people of Earth can interfere in the lives of colonies, the era of the private military contractor is at its greatest.
So then one PMC, Kestrel, started snapping up all the smaller ones until they were big enough to take a shot at conquering all the space colonies into an empire and unifying space under one banner by force. It's a tense time, there are giant robots, there are space psychics, there are tragic clones. All that good shit.
Background/History Avanti Kadam has had a long and storied career as an officer of various military spacecraft, including some 20 years directly in the captain's seat. Her last official command was aboard the outdated attack carrier Osiris, under Kestrel's orders. When Kestrel ordered her to stand by while a civilian space colony was attacked, Kadam and her crew chose instead to go rogue and launch a one ship rebellion against Kestrel's bid for power.
In the final battle, Kadam sacrificed herself and her ship to defeat Kestrel's leader in a dramatic ramming attack while simultaneously swordfighting her former lover on the burning wreckage of her own bridge. But the two of them miraculously survived and reappeared later in the story as overly dramatic space pirates to save humanity again.
CR Wishes
- Older characters. She's in her 50s, which isn't so bad with super future medical tech, but she's still visibly Not Young anymore
- Military characters. She's been in military service since she was like 18, and it's really the only life she knows. Extra points for people with command experience
- Ladies. She's a lesbian.
- Sci-fi characters. She's from a world with spaceships and giant robots and asteroid bases and all kinds of crazy stuff.
