Setting
Modern US but urban fantasy. Demon hunting families are largely underground and supernatural creatures remain in the shadows, many often unseen by the regular humane ye.
Background/History
From his profile:
– his family comes from a longstanding tradition of defending humanity and protecting the weak from supernatural forces.
– he is the best fighter in his family of hunters, sharp and smart; though not always a people-pleaser, his family is important to him. despite all of this, he has always had a secret desire to experience life as a regular boy, straddling the line between living as a normal 20-year-old college student and following tradition.
– unaffectionate and too blunt sometimes, he tries to be serious especially since he knows he has a sweet, unassuming face, but underneath there is a human heart with an understanding that some beings just need to survive in this world.
– he's easily defensive and doesn't keep many friends, though few have broken down his barriers – he's secretly thankful for it. given his life and family history, he's reluctant to keep anyone close to him lest he put them in the line of danger. he seems selfish in his desire to remain aloof but in truth he is deeply concerned about the safety and wellbeing of others.

– she is the only surviving member of the freshman dance team who had been reported as killed in a bus accident en route to school after a dance competition. in truth, an evil spirit had entered each of the students one by one, turning them against each other, taking them down a murderous path
– essie had been somewhat sheltered in her upbringing though she had dipped her toe into the waters of rebellion once in a while, especially when she began dating – she did not believe in spirits until she was nearly possessed by one.
– only essie knows the truth, but due to her bubbly, kind, and almost ditzy nature, she knows no one would believe that she had faced down the spirit herself. it was her inherent goodness and cunning that allowed her to escape the bloodbath, though she still has nightmares of being covered in blood
