Welcome to our (first!) EMP and workshop!

Want to share your hype about your characters? Haven't quite decided between two characters and looking for help? Or maybe you're apping a canon OC and you're curious if anyone else's OC might have gone to school with them...

Here's the place to talk about it!

Feel free to use the form below to post, or freeform it.

Samata was also inspired by a D&D campaign (One I was slated to be in that never got off the ground), but her setting as it currently exists is pretty weird so stapling Goroket's universe to hers would be kinda weird. I can go into more detail if you like but basically the idea is that the god of Law and Order and Magic "Sorted" her world so that every race had its own nation and every nation was separated by miles of monster infested wastelands. He wanted everyone to STAY IN THEIR LANES and STOP CHANGING. GOD CAN'T YOU PEOPLE JUST STICK BY THE STEREOTYPES FOR YOUR RACE IN THE PHB?

So if that's too out there then as a backup I offer a simpler CR hook: Samata is an amateur blacksmith herself, and could benefit from instruction from a pro!

Ah, yeah, a setting with heavily impaired travel/trade and only one god(?) wouldn't mesh very neatly. But that's fortunately not a problem for CR in general! I am 100% up for building on shared hobbies, and there might also be some interesting conversations to be had in differing views towards magic, owing to the differences in their homeworlds and upbringing.

His own homeland/tribe is effectively theocratic, with each village having two head priests advising a chief who can be challenged and replaced by a new chief at any time. So he's certainly familiar with the concept of some casters being a social class of their own - but they are trained, not born, and it didn't end up as dystopian as her setting sounds.

At first I was like "Hey that's not dystopian! She just lives in a world modeled very loosely after revolutionary France but with a tyrannical god that enforcers a stratified social order" And then I was like "Hmm, actually that does sound pretty dystopian."

So you know, you may be on to something here.

Anyway she needs to be a good blacksmith so she can build a more advanced version of her mechanical arm, which means she's gotta be able to make very small parts with incredible accuracy. And while she's working on that she can matter-of-factly tell him about Istavan the one true god of magic and law and order only to get buffeted by new ideas and have her world view shattered.

Good shit.

That does sound like an excellent plan! He can certainly give a boost to her blacksmith training, and is always up for the exchange of teachings and ideas - though he will feel a bit bad about shattering anyone's world view, aha.
